Ballet, Cosplay, and the Oscar's

I am so looking forward to this next month.  College is nice and busy with getting ready to actually start filming.  But as much as I am excited about that.  What I am really looking forward to is the performance of Romeo & Juliet at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver Colorado.  it will be performed by the Colorado Ballet, Feb 25-Mar 6th.   What I am really looking forward to is seeing the sword fights as ballet.  It might sound odd but I bet the choreography will be stunning.  I will be sure to post a review about it after the show.

If you are interested in the show, Check out the following link http://coloradoballet.org/

Furthermore I was invited to two great social events this February;  A black tie Oscar party and a Valentine Cosplay Dinner.   The Oscar party shall be fun, movie themed dishes, and little golden Oscars for best dressed.  As for the Cosplay party, a romantic evening on the town, partying with new friends, and wearing Anime costumes.   I might want a mask!  But It sounds to fun to turn down.

Well guys and gals, have a great week, and I'll talk to you soon.

  1. It came to my attention that some people may not know what cosplay is. So the fastest and easiest way to explain it is: a type of performing art where people dress as characters and Ideas. The Cliff Note's version of the art can be described on wikipedia. But if you really want to get into it, or know more, check out the following links.

A must read if you are a costume designer or makeup artist. These are two of the best sites you will ever find on the subject (in the United States).

I strongly suggest checking out the Harajuku district of Japan. As every Sunday people express their creations on the streets of Tokyo. The term was created when describing costumed fans at "Worldcon 1984" in Los Angeles by Nobuyuki Takahashi. Or so he says in Takahashi YeinJee's very own "Asian Blog: The Origin of the word cosplay". Anyway another good read if you get into costuming.

  2. I am looking forward to that ballet as well. The last ballet I saw was the Nutcracker and it was years ago. I am glad I have people to go see them with now.

I love the Harajuku district. Going there on a Sunday is on my list of things to do in my life. There are so many different styles of costumes and fashion that come out of that area.
