Ballet, Cosplay, and the Oscar's

I am so looking forward to this next month.  College is nice and busy with getting ready to actually start filming.  But as much as I am excited about that.  What I am really looking forward to is the performance of Romeo & Juliet at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver Colorado.  it will be performed by the Colorado Ballet, Feb 25-Mar 6th.   What I am really looking forward to is seeing the sword fights as ballet.  It might sound odd but I bet the choreography will be stunning.  I will be sure to post a review about it after the show.

If you are interested in the show, Check out the following link http://coloradoballet.org/

Furthermore I was invited to two great social events this February;  A black tie Oscar party and a Valentine Cosplay Dinner.   The Oscar party shall be fun, movie themed dishes, and little golden Oscars for best dressed.  As for the Cosplay party, a romantic evening on the town, partying with new friends, and wearing Anime costumes.   I might want a mask!  But It sounds to fun to turn down.

Well guys and gals, have a great week, and I'll talk to you soon.

Conventions for Novices.

Every year I geek it up and go to conventions.  I blame my Trekker Parents.  But I don't think there is a class action suit against Gene Roddenberry  or J.J Abrams for the countless souls they have condemned to vinyl suits and latex masks.  Going a step further I have the unfortunate habit of hitting up anime and comic cons.  Don't get me wrong I love them.  I like the exhibits most of the time, I love the guests, I love the musical performances, and I even like some of fans.  I'm not a big fan of the smell.  If you ever went to a con you know what I mean.

When I was a kid I never wanted to be the comic guy from the Simpson's.  I had far too many college roommates who can fill that role just fine.   I liked art, and despite what you may or may not think about sci fi, or anime, I assure you these are art.  Maybe not in the sense of the Sistine Chapel, but like graffiti in a New York Subway.  Art even if it's not appreciated.   So I would rather spend my time listening to actors and directors talk about behind the scenes antics.  Or chasing down an artist for a rare picture.  Once in a while you will get to meet someone and have one hell of a night having drinks at a local bar.  Remind me to tell you about one year I meet S.P. Somtow.  Great Guy.  Anyway I digress, The convention scene is a great place to meet interesting people.
Yeah that's me from last year at NDK.

If you are lucky, like me, You will have good friends who use these conventions to meet up and catch up.  My crowd gets crazy we like to dress up, some of us compete others don't.  Some sell artwork, others compete in varied contests.  For others "It's all about the parties".   But if you ever wanted to know what would happen when comic book super heroes meet sailor moon and friends while hanging out with emotional robots, conventions are for you.

If you already Enjoy conventions and intend to follow this blog, share a cosplay, costume, or other convention picture you may have of yourself or a friend.

Talk to you soon.

A post for college

The view from my apartment.
The blue sky took on purple hues with the setting sun.
The clouds shifted from white to orange as day light waned.

This picture tells a story of how  beautiful the sky can really be if you look up.

This blog is a college project.  I am going to right about visual and Preforming arts.
In the next few weeks I will post pictures of the projects I am working on.
